1.0 Update and Hotfix 1.0.0.2

Quick Answer

Review Enshrouded 1.0 launch content, the October 16 hotfix, save-conversion limits, combat changes, building systems, and platform availability.

The latest Enshrouded update in this October 17, 2026 snapshot is Hotfix 1.0.0.2, build 1269579, released on October 16. It follows the October 15 full launch and fixes the world-settings configuration failure, an NVIDIA gray-fog problem, and factory issues. It also prevents a migration crash by leaving corrupted characters unmigrated. Repair and migration of those characters are still pending, so a missing corrupted character is not necessarily recovered by installing this build.

The larger 1.0 release adds Cinder's Cradle, the current main-story conclusion, new Hollow Halls, expanded magic and summoning, Sparkworks, and building improvements. Returning players should update first, preserve old saves before conversion, and review their combat setup instead of treating an Early Access guide as an unchanged description of the launch game.

A large feature release and a hotfix serve different purposes. The hotfix number identifies the later maintenance build; it does not mean that Cinder's Cradle or Sparkworks first appeared with that small update. Likewise, a guide labeled Update 8 describes an earlier stage of the game, even when the page was collected recently.

Update first when world settings will not open

Hotfix 1.0.0.2 fixes the issue that prevented configuring world settings. The failure had been introduced during the previous hotfix. If the main-menu Edit action stopped working during the launch period, install the later build before following a workaround intended for the earlier failure.

Keep the symptom precise. Being unable to open world settings differs from individual custom settings not taking effect, and both differ from a server role preventing construction. The first is the menu failure addressed by the hotfix. A named difficulty preset or a server permission requires its own configuration check.

Do not delete the world to obtain a fixed menu. Preserve an important world before further troubleshooting and check the installed build. If the action still fails, record the version and the exact interface action involved rather than treating every inability to edit something as the same bug.

Explore the new final region without using an old complete-map claim

Cinder's Cradle expands the world with lava wastes and floating islands. The 1.0 release also brings the current main-story arc to its conclusion. These changes give returning characters a new destination and give new characters a complete story progression to work toward.

Older maps covering Springlands through Veilwater Basin can remain useful within that coverage. They do not establish every landmark, resource, or entrance in Cinder's Cradle. Check whether a map actually includes the new region before using its marker count as a full-world completion target.

The addition of a region does not by itself establish a shortcut, an entry coordinate, or the exact requirements of every new objective. Prepare around your actual quest and Flame progression. A launch overview should help identify what changed without turning an announced feature into an invented route through it.

Expect new Hollow Halls in two established regions

Version 1.0 adds Hollow Halls associated with Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. These are additions to the dungeon progression, rather than evidence that the old dungeon list already covered every current hall.

For returning groups, distinguish knowing the region from knowing the new dungeon. An existing travel point or familiar equipment setup does not explain an unfamiliar interior, puzzle, or encounter. Confirm the actual entrance and relevant quest before organizing a long group run around an older walkthrough.

A new Hollow Hall also gives a cooperative party a reason to review roles and supplies. Damage, recovery, protection, and the ability to handle groups remain separate needs. The release announcement establishes the new dungeons; it does not establish a universally successful party composition or a guaranteed reward list for every run.

Reassess magic, wands, and summoning

The magic changes expand spell choices, improve wand interactions, and add spell-based summoning. Eternal spells can be upgraded, and the interaction between magical attacks and skills has changed enough that returning mages should inspect their current descriptions before repeating an old rotation. Existing characters have their skill tree reset on first loading into 1.0. Spend those returned points again before leaving the base; a familiar weapon with an empty allocation will not reproduce the old build.

The new summoning direction includes elemental totems and skeletons. Its supporting skills are part of the wider magic changes. Keep spell summons separate from older summon items, a Necromancer skill trigger, and companions created by weapon gems. Similar visual themes do not establish identical costs, durations, or capacity limits.

For a returning caster, check the currently equipped spells and the skill allocation before making an equipment judgment. A familiar weapon may now work with a different set of attacks or synergies. Do not assume that an old single-spell recommendation remains the complete answer to bosses, groups, movement pressure, and mana management after the overhaul.

Plan for the new progression ceiling

The 1.0 character level cap is fifty, and fully upgraded equipment reaches level fifty-five. Those are different ceilings. A weapon level and a character level should not be treated as interchangeable when comparing an older build table with the launch progression.

An Early Access list that stops at character level forty-five or equipment level fifty can still describe equipment from its own stage. It cannot establish the final launch tier. Avoid discarding a useful item merely because a headline calls an older set the permanent endgame choice.

Progression also depends on the equipment and recipes you have actually unlocked. A new maximum does not instantly replace the items in an existing inventory or establish a guaranteed drop location. Treat launch-tier item recommendations according to the level, build, and acquisition details they actually cover.

Use the building and storage improvements deliberately

Version 1.0 adds Airborne Architect at the center of the skill tree, enabling free-flight building. Storage chests can also be upgraded or converted to Magic chests in place without emptying them first. These changes are especially relevant to a player returning to a large settlement or an established storage layout.

Distinguish building movement from ordinary world traversal. A building feature is not automatically a new combat or exploration ability. Likewise, an in-place chest upgrade is a specific storage interaction, rather than proof that every storage rule or crafting dependency has changed.

Before reorganizing an established base, inspect the current building controls and the available chest interaction. Learn the changed operation on a small part of the project before rearranging the whole storage system. Preserve the existing world before a large conversion or reconstruction, particularly when returning after several updates.

Treat Sparkworks as a new logic system

Sparkworks adds switches, traps, mechanisms, and connections for building interactive creations. Its purpose is to connect inputs and outputs so that a structure can respond to actions. That opens a different kind of building task from placing a static room or furnishing a house.

Start by deciding what action should trigger what result. A switch and a mechanism need a working connection, rather than simply being placed near one another. The launch feature establishes the ability to create these interactions; a detailed circuit still needs the exact components and connection rules for the intended design.

Keep the first project small enough to observe. Confirm one input and one intended result before expanding it into a larger sequence. This makes a failed connection easier to locate and gives you a concrete basis for a more complex adventure or puzzle later.

Distinguish Adventure Sharing from the main world

Adventure Sharing lets players share and experience constructed adventures. It complements building and interactive systems, but a downloaded adventure is a different task from continuing your established survival world.

Identify which world or adventure you are entering before interpreting a changed layout, ruleset, or progression state. A community creation is not evidence that the main Embervale world has been replaced by the update. Keep the existing world recoverable while trying a separate experience.

The launch also improves the new-player flow through loot, early recipes, and route guidance. Returning players using a new character should therefore follow the current prompts rather than insisting that every early step must match a 2024 walkthrough. An older guide may describe an earlier sequence accurately without describing the present one.

Preserve old saves through the conversion

Steam Cloud file list used to recover saved Enshrouded files

Version 1.0 uses a smaller save format and a simpler folder structure. When its first load detects a save created in version 0.8 or earlier, it backs up that data before migrating it. Keep a separate recoverable copy and distinguish a world problem from a character problem when checking the result.

The character and world selection screens now separate local saves and Steam Cloud saves into different tabs. Check the intended tab before treating a missing entry as lost data. Hotfix 1.0.0.2 skips migration of corrupted characters to avoid a crash; work to repair and migrate those characters continues. A world loading successfully does not establish that every player's character migrated correctly.

If a character is missing or damaged, avoid repeatedly replacing files without identifying the affected save. Record the build and the specific symptom. The existence of a hotfix is a reason to update and recheck, rather than a reason to assume that every migration problem has already been solved.

Check platforms before arranging launch co-op

The full release is available on Steam and PS5, including PS5 Pro support. PC lists up to sixteen cooperative players, while PS5 lists up to eight online players. Crossplay is planned for later and was not available at launch.

Xbox Series X and Series S are planned for spring 2027 in this snapshot. A Nintendo Switch release is not confirmed. Do not confuse a future platform plan with an available version or assume that owning the game on two supported platforms establishes a shared multiplayer session between them.

For the next session, prioritize the change that affects your current task: install the maintenance build for a launch bug, preserve and check an old save before returning, review combat before a difficult fight, or inspect the new building controls before a large project. That keeps the update useful to the world and character you are actually playing.
